Rather than do a readers challenge/choice, I'm going to do something a little different this year. It was actually brought on by a comment on my State of the Fic entry. This year I'm going to
feature a reader's work.
Once a month I will post a call for submissions. I will read over whatever is sent to me [DO NOT EXPECT ME TO EDIT/CRITIQUE] and decide which amongst the submissions to feature in
my
dreamsinfiction LJ. The selected submission will be posted in my LJ, featured on the Featured Readers Table of Contents, listed in my LJ's userinfo, and awarded a special banner to display wherever you want.
Rules when submitting:
- Submissions can be of any genre, any fandom, any point-of-view
- Submissions must be between 100 and 9,000 words. Anything over that will be automatically rejected (LJ only allows you 10,000 words, so this makes certain your entry doesn't get truncated).
- Submissions can be stand-alone or a chapter. However if you send me a chapter, the chapter should be pretty self-contained, or else I'm fairly certain I won't be able to get into it and neither will others.
- Submissions can be any rating.
- You can submit as many per month as you want, as many per year as you want. But I would recommend against submitting the same thing 12 times.
To submit your work:
- Comment on the call for submissions entry. Just so I know to watch for it. [Comments will be screened]
- Email me your submission at dreamsinfiction@livejournal.com [You can either include the submission in text of the email or attach as a .doc file]. Or if you catch me on MSN, you can transmit it to me there too.
- Be sure to include
a statement permitting me to post YOUR work. Any submission without this will be rejected. You must have your full, legal name within this statement (though I will only being posting it under your LJ username [unless you have none, in that case I will use whatever name you wish]).
Need help on this? Let me know.Writers will be notified the Monday before I post the month's selection. If you have any questions about why you were not selected, you can certainly ask. This is the only time I will offer feedback on submissions. Feedback will not come with a rejection. You have to ask for it.
And that's pretty much it. The first call for submissions will go up on this Friday. So get to thinking/writing! :)
