Title: Yesterday to Tomorrow: Chapter Seventy-two, Flushed Out
Rating: NC-17 [violence, swearing, nudity, sexual situations]
Summary: Chris and Alyssa go scuba diving.
Grinning, Alyssa looked back at Chris. She was ecstatic to be learning how to scuba dive. While snorkeling would have been just fine, something about being able to go deeper, to actually swim beside the fish was far better. While it would take two days of training before they would be allowed to actually go scuba diving, Alyssa was very, very excited.
Sitting on the dock, her feet splashed in the water, making her grin even more. She was listening to her instructor, it was just hard to focus. Even after the hour of class they had already had. She just wanted it to be all over and done with so she could swim with the fishes. Chris couldn't help but laugh when Alyssa eagerly volunteered at every chance to get in the water, to show the instructors how quickly she was catching on.
When the class was over, Alyssa bounced down the beach. Chris trailed behind, smiling as she giggled, turning to him. Her arms spread wide and she spun slowly, waiting for him to catch up with her on the sands. Chris's arms slipped around her waist, stopping her spinning.
"I cannot wait until tomorrow!" she giggled. "Let's go to bed now so tomorrow comes quicker."
He laughed, "Baby, I don't think that will help."
"Then what else can we do?" Alyssa asked.
"I think you need something to hedge off your energy."
"Ohhhh. Let's go do some yoga. I met the yoga instructor at lunch yesterday," she stated, pulling out of his arms to head towards the yoga pavilion.
"You sure? I thought you didn't want to exercise on this vacation?" he teased, trotting to catch up with her.
"You're the one who claims I have energy to burn."
"You do!"
"Maybe we should just go back to our little bungalow and have sex instead," Alyssa suggested nonchalantly.
Chris stopped in his tracks, his mind arrested at her words. Deciding she hadn't been serious, he returned to walking alongside her, not taking the bait.
"So this yoga instructor is good, huh? Good enough to teach someone like me who has never done it before?" he asked.
"I dunno. I should have asked for a private session first. Really see how flexible he is," Alyssa replied.
Once again, her tone suggested more than her words and Chris stopped. Shaking his head, he smiled crookedly and joined her once again.
"Maybe you should. A little variety isn't bad in life," he countered.
Her mouth opened slightly, her brown eyes going to his, "You did not just encourage me to have an affair on our honeymoon."
Chris shrugged, "Whatever makes you happy."
She slapped his shoulder playfully, "Louse."
He shrugged again, repeating the same words.
Shaking her head, Alyssa turned back towards their destination, realizing they were nearly there, "Don't push yourself too much, Chris. I don't want you to be too sore tomorrow to scuba dive with me."
"I wouldn't miss that for the world."
Looking at Alyssa as she slipped into the tub with him, Chris shook his head, "I didn't know a body could bend that way. I mean I knew yours could, having watched you yoga before. But I didn't know my body could bend that way."
Chuckling, she settled in his lap, laying her cheek on his shoulder, "You're going to be sore tomorrow. You shouldn't have pushed yourself."
"And you won't?"
"Nope. Only one new position for me. That peacock one," she claimed.
"Which one was that?" he asked, fingers pushing her hair from her face.
"The one where I balanced my entire body parallel to the ground, only my hands on the mat," Alyssa explained.
"You're shitting me."
"Nope. Wanna see it?"
"Does it require you getting out of the tub?"
"Yes."
"Then no," he replied, arms settling around her waist. "You can show me some other time."
"You sure?"
"Absolutely. I'm not letting you go. Not while I have your beautiful body pressed against mine."
She rolled her eyes, "We don't have to have sex every night of our honeymoon, you know."
"Who said anything about sex?" Chris countered.
Her hand slid between them, "This did."
He gasped as her hand slid over him, "Not fair."
"All's fair in love and war."
"Which are we in right now?" Chris replied.
Alyssa giggled, "That's for you to figure out."
"You drive me insane," he declared.
"Then maybe you shouldn't have married me."
"Ha! I could do nothing but marry you. Only way to insure that you don't go around driving someone else insane," Chris said. "Not that you can drive anyways."
"I can too!" she argued, resisting the urge to pull away from him. "I can drive a motorcycle now, remember?"
He smiled, "Right, right. You can drive a motorcycle."
"Next time we get the chance, I'm driving the bike," she declared. "And you can see how great of a biker I am."
"I don't doubt it for a minute."
She had been right. Chris was sore all over. He hadn't even been aware of the muscles that ached now. Getting out of bed did not seem like the best idea. And yet he had to. Or Alyssa wouldn't be able to swim with the fish on their last day at that resort. And he knew she would never forgive him for that.
Watching him slowly roll out of the bed, Alyssa smirked, "Told ya you'd be sore."
"I know, I know," he replied, not wanting to move at all. "Any magical remedy?"
"I already booked us an hour with the masseuse before our class," she answered.
"Really?"
Alyssa answered, "Yep. So get your clothes on so we aren't late to our appointment. I want to swim with the fish today."
She had thought the underwater massage room was amazing. It didn't hold a candle to scuba diving. True she and Chris were not fully certified, so they couldn't go on just any dive. But they were mostly certified, allowing them in the water with the other couples and instructors. And it was amazing.
Swimming alongside her husband as well as a school of fish took Alyssa's breath away. There was something very magical to be in the underwater world, close enough to reach out and touch the fish. Oh how she was tempted to do so.
Tapping on her shoulder, Chris motioned in the opposite direction as Alyssa was looking. Pivoting in the water, she grinned as much as she could with a respirator in her mouth. Not too far from where they swam, dolphins danced about with each other. For a few minutes Alyssa hovered where she was, watching the mammals play with each other. She could almost feel Chris smirk when two of the dolphins joined for a quickie before darting away from the humans.
Noting that their time was nearly up, the couple turned and started back towards the boat. They passed schools of brightly coloured fish darting in and out of the coral reefs. A manta ray fluttered over the ocean floor, causing all of the divers to pause for a moment to watch.
One by one the divers began to surface. Chris climbed aboard the boat before Alyssa, turning to help her in. Her arms instantly wrapped around his neck, squeezing him with her excitement. With their mouthpieces dangling away from their mouths, they kissed quickly before Alyssa started to chat excitedly.
"You know," Chris interrupted her, "if I didn't know better, I would think you were Toni's age."
She stuck her tongue out at him, moving to stow her gear with the others, "Good thing I'm not, huh?"
"Very good thing."
"What's in store for us now, love?"
"Dinner," he answered. "Nothing fancy."
"Good," Alyssa nodded. "And where are we going tomorrow?"
"I'm not telling."
"Not fair."
"Didn't someone tell me that all's fair in love and war last night?" he teased, helping her out of the oxygen tank.
"Only when we're being unfair to you," she replied. "You're not allowed to do that to me."
"Ohhhh. You should explain these double standards to me earlier," Chris chuckled.
"Nah. What fun would that be? Besides. You have years to learn all the rules."
"How about a lifetime? Somehow I don't believe just a few years would suffice to learn all of your rules."
"We'll see how I feel tomorrow."
Sprawled on her stomach, Alyssa looked up at Chris. For whatever reason he had taken it upon himself to pack up for the both of them. She didn't complain as it allowed her extra time to soak in the lovely tub, another dip in the ocean outside their windows, the chance to prance around nude, teasing him. It was already a lovely day. Neither of them too sore to move; Alyssa buzzing excitedly about the next leg of their venture.
Though truth be told, she wasn't exactly sure why their honeymoon was broken into segments, why they were leaving their little love nest. But she presumed that was something she would discouver soon enough.
"Where we going, Chris?" she asked for the seventh time that hour.
"Like I told you all the previous times you asked: I'm not telling you," he replied, zipping up the suitcase.
"But Daaaaaadddy," she grinned.
"It doesn't work for my daughters, it won't work for you," he proclaimed.
"Not even if I beg naked?"
He paused, "No. That didn't work earlier this morning, did it?"
Alyssa thought for a moment, "Well, no. But you can't fault me for trying. I hope we're not going on a boat. I don't like cruises."
Chris's eyes widened slightly, "Since when?"
"Since being stuck on a ferry for hours in Seattle when the engine went out mid-Puget Sound," she replied.
"I'll be right back," he declared, hurrying to the phone that connected them to their thakuru.
Alyssa grinned, "Flushed out by a bluff."
